Running Championship 2013

As a part of celebrating the Diamond Jubilee of the first ascent of Mt Everest, Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) is organizing ‘TAAN Trekking Workers Running Championship 2013’ on Saturday, May 25. The 14-km race will begin from Fulbari Gate near By-Pass and goes into the national park for 7 km and returns back to the Fulbari Gate via same route.
Workers employed in different trekking agencies are eligible to participate in the race. The race will have two categories – men and women. Winners and runners-up in both the categories will receive medals cash price of Rs 25,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000, respectively. Tourism in Nepal is believed to have begun with the successful summit of Mt Everest by Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary on May 29, 1953. Nepali tourism fraternity has been celebrating May 29 as International Sagarmatha Day for the past few years. TAAN celebrates May 29 as ‘TAAN Day’ as the day happens to be its establishment day.
